Chancletas: sandalias de bebé a crochet / crochet baby sandals

En las picadas en la selva misionera, los pies de las jóvenes curupisas se cubren para defenderse de las inclemencias del tiempo. Su calzado se parece al de los pueblos que habitan en esta tierra desde tiempo inmemorial. Después de todo, las curupisas son seres mágicos que nacen de esos pueblos en este colorado suelo.

On the new paths in the jungle in Misiones, the young curupisas' feet are covered to defend themselves from the inclemency of the weather. Their shoes resemble the ones worn by the people who inhabit this land since time immemorial. After all, curupisas are magical beings that are born from those people in this red soil.

Sandalias de bebé a crochet / Crochet baby sandals

Medida: 3-6 meses (6-9 meses).

Size: 3-6 months (6-9 months).

Materiales: Un poco de hilo de algodón de 6 hebras. Ganchillo de 3 mm.

Materials: A small amount of 6 ply cotton. 3mm hook.

Puntos utilizados:
cad, pr, pb, pma, p cangrejo, base de pb (tejer en puntos bajos sin cadena de base), base de pma (tejer en pma sin cadena de base), aumento de pb (2 pb en el mismo punto de base), aumento de pma (2 pma en el mismo punto de base).

Stitches: ch, sl st, sc, hdc, crab stitch, foundation sc (single crochet without a chain base), foundation hdc (hdc without a chain base), sc increase (2 sc on the same base stitch), hdc increase (2 hdc on the same base stitch).

Instrucciones: 

Para realizar la suela, el talón y la capellada, seguí el gráfico que aparece al costado.
La suela y el talón se tejen en una sola pieza, a la que se le agrega la capellada, con una vuelta de punto cangrejo. Al final de todo, se teje la tira del tobillo.
Instructions:
To make the sole, the heel and the vamp, follow the graph on the side. Both the sole and the heel are worked in one piece and then you add the vamp with a round of crab stitch. At the end you make the ankle strap.

Suela y talón:

Se trabaja primero en técnica de tejido circular.
Base de 12 (14) cad + 1 cad para iniciar 1a. vuelta (no cuenta como pb).

You work in the round, first.
Make a base of 12 (14) ch + 1 ch to start 1st. round (does not count as sc)

1a. v: 5 pb en segunda cad desde el ganchillo, 1 pb en las sigtes. 5 (6) cad, 1 pma en cada una de las otras 5 (6) cad, 5 pma en la última cad de base. Girar la labor y trabajar del otro lado de la cadena: pma en los primeros 5 (6) puntos, pb en los sigtes 5 (6) p de base. 1 pr en el primer punto de la vuelta, para cerrar esta y las otras 2 vueltas.

Tiras del tobillo:
Para la sandalia derecha, trabajar enfrentando la parte exterior del talón , a pma sobre los 11 pb. Continuar con técnica de base de pma, hasta completar 11 (13) pma, hacer un ojal como muestra la foto de abajo, agregar otro pma, hacer otro ojal y un último pma. Cortar el hilo y rematar.
Para hacer la tira de la izquierda, invertir el proceso: comenzar con 2 pma de base, 1 ojal, 1pma, 1 ojal, 11 (13) pma de base, pma sobre los pb del talón.
Ankle straps:
For the right sandal, facing the outer side of the heel, hdc on each sc. Continue with 11 foundation hdc, make one buttonhole as explained on the picture below, 1 foundation hdc, another buttonhole, 1foundation hdc. Fasten off and weave in.
To make the strap for the left sandal, reverse the process: start with 2 foundation hdc, a buttonhole, 1 hdc, a buttonhole, 11 (13) hdc, hdc on the 11 sc of the heel.

Para armar la sandalia y hacer una terminación, hacer coincidir la capellada con la suela en los puntos señalados en el gráfico. Tejer una vuelta a punto cangrejo alrededor, tomando juntas la suela y la capellada. Al llegar al talón, hacer los puntos cangrejos en la última vuelta de la suela, insertando el ganchillo entre los puntos bajos de la primera vuelta del talón.

To assemble the sandal and do the finishing, overlap the vamp and the sole, where indicated by the marks. Make a crab stitch round, taking both the sole and the vamp. When reaching the heel, continue making the crab stitch on the last round of the sole, inserting the hook between the sc of the 1st round of the heel.

Megahéroe / Megahero

Las comarcas curupisas cuentan con nuevo superhéroe. Se trata de Megaman , antes conocido como Rock, quien ha sido creado por el Dr. Light, para vencer al malvado Dr. Wily. Con su brazo armado, ha venido a auxiliar a Curupezno en el combate contra las criaturas del patio. Abejas, abejorros fieros, hormigas voladoras, mbarigüís, butucas, bichitos colorados, sucumben bajo el poder de ambos guerreros.


Del caos que queda tras la batalla se encarga Roll -compañera de Rock / Megaman- dotada también de un brazo armado. Pero sus armas no son las del combate: con el poder de su brazo, es capaz de aspirar la basura,  limpiar ventanas en un periquete, desinfectar inodoros, cocinar y planchar, licuar y tostar pan a la velocidad de la luz. Eso sí, que no pretenda aprender a volar o manejar autos. Más vale, antes, que se vaya a lavar platos.

There's a new superhero in these curupisan territories. It's Megaman, formerly known as Rock, created by Dr. Light, to vanquish evil Dr. Wily. With the weapon from his left arm, Megaman came to help curupisan boy to fight the creatures in the backyard. Bees, fierce bumblebees, flying ants, mosquitos, red bugs, all succumb under the power of both warriors.


Roll -Rock/Megaman 's mate- takes care of the chaos left after the battle, also using the weapons on her left arm. Yet, those weapons are not suitable for the fight: with her powerful arm she can vaccum the rubbish, she can clean windows in a jiffy and disinfect toilets, she's able to cook, iron, blend and toast bread at the speed of light. She can do all that, provided that she doesn't try to fly or drive a car. In that case, she'd better went to wash the dishes (*).

Para hacer el Megaman, empleé hilo de algodón de 6 hebras y un ganchillo de 3mm. Está compuesto de tres partes hechas por separado: la cabeza, el  casco y el cuerpo -que empecé a partir de las piernas y al que adosé, luego, los brazos. 

Las facciones en el rostro fueron elegidas por su dueño. Mientras yo trataba de reproducir la cara del personaje del viejo videojuego, pero cuando  mi Curupezno la vio, me dijo que sus ojos se veían locos y me pidió que lo hiciera tal cual lo ven

To make the Megaman, I used 6 ply cotton and a 3mm hook. It's worked in three parts: the head, the helmet and the body -which I started from the legs and while working I attached the arms.

The features on the face were a choice made by the owner . I was trying to recreate the face of the old videogame character, but my boy told me that the eyes looked crazy, and asked me to make it as you see it.

 (*) Usually, in my place, when a woman is driving and she goes slow or she makes some kind of mistake, guys would shout at her something like "why don't you go wash the dishes!"

Reina el silencio por aquí, pero no la inacción. Tres proyectos se acumulan en la mesa de mi sala: unos almohadones hechos mediante las instrucciones de Dottie Angel; un vestidito para Curupezna que es una modificación de uno publicado en croche.tv; y un Megaman para el Curupezno, sin patrón.


The silence reigns here, but not inaction. Three projects lie on my coffee table: some cushions made from the instructions by Dottie Angel; a dress for Curupisan baby, which is a modification of one published on croche.tv; and a Megaman for Curupisan boy, which I improvised.

Sangre aguada / Watery blood

Por estos días, en esta casa que otrora renegaba del rosa, acontecen manifestaciones del tal color en las formas más variopintas que puédase imaginar. 

These days, at this home, where pink was once apostatized,  manifestations of such colour happen in the most multifarious ways one can imagine.

Bien sabido es, entre las innúmeras criaturas míticas que pueblan estos territorios, que una Curupisa jamás ha vestido de rosa, tonalidad que siempre la hizo pensar en sangre aguada. Bien sabido es, también, que esta criatura adora el rojo profundo de la sangre teñida de tierra colorada misionera.

The countless mythical creatures from this territory know well that a Curupisa has never worn pink, which is a tone that always made her think of watery blood. They also know well that she adores deep red blood dyed in the red soil of Misiones.

Para una criatura como la Curupisa, que ya antes ha parido un Curupezno, parir a otra Curupisa conlleva un movimiento centrípeto. Su mirada e intelecto giran en torno del pensar en sí misma como criatura hembra, pues emprende el ejercicio de dotar a su fémina prole de los atavíos de su género.

For a creature like Curupisa -who once gave birth to a male curupisan kid- giving birth to another Curupisa entails a centripetal movement. Her eyes and intellect turn around the thought of herself as a female creature, as she undertakes the task of endowing her female offspring with the attires of her gender.

Así, ante la serie de colores que se le imponen al ser mujer, la Curupisa decide ceder, a regañadientes, ante uno de ellos. Bajo la sombra del mburucuyá florido, y para iniciar un nuevo año, toma hilo rosa y aguja para tejer un abrigo para las inusitadas noches frescas de enero, para su niña que duerme arrullada por chicharras y torcacitas.  

So, among the colours that are imposed to the being a woman, Curupisa decides to give in reluctantly to one of them. Under the shadow of passiflora plants, to begin a new year, she grabs pink yarn and a hook to make a coat for her daughter, who sleeps lulled by the sounds of cicadas and pigeons, so she can wear it on the unusually fresh evenings of January. 

Romance de la Teta y la Luna / Romance between The Booby and the Moon

Su hermano la llama La Luna. Desde el 14 de octubre, comenzaron a regir sobre nuestras vidas los avatares del ciclo lunar.

Her brother calls her The Moon. Since 14th October, our lives started being governed by the vicissitudes of lunar cycle.

Variaciones sobre un tema / Variations on a theme

Aparentemente, la curupisiña por venir no tiene suficientes atavíos para proteger sus desnudos pies de los embates de la intemperie. Así, madre curupisa aguza el ingenio y se dispone a tejer estos escarpines, que emulan los de una bailarina. 

Apparently, baby curupisa on the way doesn't own enough attires to protect her naked feet from the batterings of the outdoors. So, mother curupisa racks her brains and starts making these slippers that resemble the ones that ballerinas wear.

Escarpines ballerina / Ballerina slippers

Materiales:
Restos de hilo de algodón de 6 cabos, un ganchillo de número 3 y unos restos de cinta de raso.

Puntos:

Puntos rasos (pr).

Puntos altos (pa). 

Puntos altos en relieve atrás. 

Disminuciones de 2 pa (empezamos un pa en un punto de base, lo dejamos sin cerrar, iniciamos otro punto alto en el punto de base siguiente y cerramos los dos puntos de una vez).
Punto cangrejo.

Instrucciones:
El trabajo se inicia siguiendo las instrucciones para hacer escarpines de mariquitas y hojas, hasta la cuarta vuelta. En la quinta vuelta y en la sexta se trabaja de manera diferente.

Comenzar con 10 cad de base.

1a. v: 2 cad (primer p a medio de la primera vuelta), 6 pma en 3era. cad desde el ganchillo, 1 pma en las 4 cad sigtes., 1 pa en las 4 cad sigtes., 7 pa en la última cad. Girar la labor y trabajar del otro lado de la cad de base, 1 pa en las 4 cad sigtes., 1 pma en las 4 cad que siguen. Cerrar la vuelta con un pr.


2a. v: 2 cad, 1 pma en el sigte punto, 2 pma en cada uno de los 3 puntos sigtes., 1 pma en los sigtes. 6 puntos, 1 pa en los sigtes 6 puntos, 2 pa en los sigtes 3 puntos, 1 pa en cada uno de los 6 puntos sigtes., 1 pma en los sigtes. 4 puntos. Cerrar con un pr.

3era v: 3 cad (que equivalen al primer pa), 1 pa en relieve por atrás sobre cada punto de base. Completar la vuelta y cerrar con un pr.

4a. v: 3 cad, 1 pa en c/u de los 17 puntos siguientes, 5 disminuciones de 2 pa (cuidar que estas disminuciones queden centradas en la parte delantera), 1 pa sobre c/u de los puntos restantes. Cerrar vuelta con pr.

Aquí es cuando introducimos la variación en el modelo:

5a. v: 1 cad, 1 pb en los sigtes 16 pa de base, saltar 1 punto, 1 disminución de 2 pa ( tomando como base los 2 pa sigtes), 1 pa en el pa sigte, 1 dism de 2 pa, saltar 1 punto de base, 1 pb en c/u de los puntos restantes. Cerrar vuelta con pr.

6a. v: Usando un hilo de color diferente: 1 cad, 1 p cangrejo sobre cada punto de base. Cerrar vuelta con pr, cortar el hilo y esconder.

Terminar con la cinta de raso, entretejiéndola en la vuelta 5.

Materials:
Some 6 ply cotton yarn leftovers, 3 mm hook, some satin ribbon.


Stitches:

Slip stitch (sl st).

Double crochet (dc).

Back post dc.

2 st decreases (start 1 dc on 1 base stitch, leave unfinished, start another dc on next st, close both stitches at one).
Crab stitch.

Instructions:
To make these slippers, you just follow the instructions for the ladybugs and leaves booties, but you stop when you finish the 4th round. Then you work the 5th and 6th round in a different way.


Ch 10. 


1st r: 2 ch (first hdc in the round), 6 hdc on 3rd chain, sounting from the hook, 1 hdc on next 4 ch, 1 dc on next 4 ch, 7dc on last ch. Turn work to work on the lower loop of the base chains. 1 dc on next 4 ch, 1 hdc on next 4 ch. Close round with a sl st.


2nd r: 2 ch, 1 hdc on next st, 2 hdc on each of the next 3 st, 1 hdc on next 6 st, 1 dc on next 6 st, 2 dc on next 3 st, 1 dc on next 6 st, 1 hdc on next 4 st. Sl st to close round.

3rd. r: 3 ch (serves as dc), 1 back post dc on each base st, through to the end. Close round with a sl st.

4th. r: 3 ch, 1dc on next 17 st, 2 st decreases 5 times (try them to be centered in the front of the booty), 1 dc on each of the remaining st, close with a sl st.


It is right now when we introduce the variation on the pattern:


5th. r: 1 ch, 1 sc on each of the next 16 st of base, skip 1 st, 2 st decrease once (taking as a base the next 2 st), 1 dc, 2 st decrease again, skip 1 st, 1 sc through to the end of round. Close with sl st.


6th. r.: Using a different color of yarn, ch 1, crab stitch through to the end of round. Close with sl st, fasten off and weave in.


Finish by weaving the satin ribbon through the 5th round.
