 Hoy fue mi día en la celebración de lxs Latinx Maker Month, organizado en su cuenta de Instagram @ucrafter, por Marie Segares. No solo es un honor haber sido invitada, sino una gran oportunidad de conocer sobre otrxs creadorxs, que en este caso, comparten una herencia latina aun cuando viven en lugares distantes entre sí.

Today was my day in the Latinx Maker Month celebration hosted by Marie Segares, at her Instagram account @ucrafter. I can’t think of a way of living that doesn’t involve #mate, a very typical beverage that we drink in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil. The key to #matetea is that you rarely take it when being alone. This is a tradition that involves community and sharing it with others. One person is in charge of pouring hot water into a gourd that is filled with ground toasted yerba (illex) leaves. By turns, the other people that sit in round sip the poured water through a metal or bambu straw. ⁠ ⁠ I know for most people, this must sound like a filthy habit, but for us it is a part of our lives. ⁠ ⁠ Here you see a mate set on top of the placemat I made for the mate time – which is any time of the day. My mum taught me how to do it when I was ten.⁠ ⁠ But I am a person who gets easily bored, so I like to experience other crafts and arts, too. It's #LatinxMakerMonth post 5 from @curupisa! "I never leave home without a book, a notebook, and my crochet. If I have those items with me and my family around, I can feel I’m home no matter where I might be.⁠ Here you can see my latest crochet project, a hat for my big boy Felipe, that will also be featured in my next YouTube video tutorial. The background is a campsite by the Paraná River, in Santa Ana. It's our last #LatinxMakerMonth post with @curupisa! Don't forget to click through and follow Silvia! "Here I am again, in motion. I’m quite a fast crocheter, you can see. Let me tell you the secret to gain speed: it works only if you make the crochet face. Does it work for you the same way? I pout and frown and place my lips in a funny way. If I do not make the face, I cannot go fast.⁠ ⁠ I used to be too self-conscious to show myself in pictures and video tutorials, especially from the worst angles. But as I get older, I guess I get wiser and have come to accept and love who I am. This has been a healing journey that started with the very first blog post, thirteen years ago. ⁠ ⁠ So here I am, with my crochet face, saying so long and thanks to all of you for reading my words.
